Hector M. Gonzalez

Hector M. Gonzalez, a beloved, faithful, and devoted man, passed away on March 16, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on March 12, 1930, in Bogota, Colombia, Hector was a resident of New Bedford, Massachusetts. He was the son of the late Pedro Alejandro Gonzalez and Maria Luisa (Juyo) Gonzalez.

In his early life, Hector was born in Bogota, Colombia, where he spent his formative years. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a Master Tailor, a testament to his dedication and skill in his craft.

Hector was the husband of Sara (Del Monte Jerez) de Gonzalez and the late Natalia Gonzalez. He was the father of Martha Gonzalez and her companion Fernando of New Bedford, Cecilia Ben-Shalom of New York, Ricardo Gonzalez and his wife Myrian of New Jersey, and Hector Gonzalez, Jr. of New Bedford. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Luis, Armando, Andres, Katalina, and Adriana and her husband Ethan, as well as his great-grandchildren, Andre, Gabriel, Ricardo, Natalia, and Caleb. He is also survived by his siblings, Mercedes Gonzalez of Florida, Pedro Alejandro Gonzalez, and Rosalvina Gonzalez, both of Colombia; his cousins, Leonor Sevilla and Dory Gonzalez, along with many nieces and nephews.

Hector loved his family dearly and was known as an extremely funny man who was well-liked by all who knew him. His personal interests included a passion for Futbol, and he enjoyed both classical and Colombian music. In his early years, he lovingly tailored his children's coats, showcasing his devotion to his family.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. Relatives and friends are invited. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 10:00AM in St. Francis Xavier Church, 125 Main Street, Acushnet, MA 02743. Burial will be Private.
