Henry “Hank” LaFrance, 65, of New Bedford, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 1, 2020 following a performance doing what he loved, playing his drums. He was the loving and devoted husband of
Claire S. (Lambert) LaFrance with whom he shared 44 years of marriage. They were childhood sweethearts.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Joseph and Lucille (Coulombe) LaFrance, he was a lifelong resident of the city and a graduate of St. Anthony’s High School.
He had worked for Joseph Abboud Manufacturing for over 20 years, planning to retire soon.
Hank was a lifelong talented musician, specializing in vocals and drums, who played with numerous country western bands. He was a member of the Rhode Island Rednecks country music band and the band Desperado. In earlier years, he was a coach for the Whaling City Little League. Hank was an excellent cook who enjoyed preparing big meals, specifically lasagna and pizzas for his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife Claire are his children, Michael LaFrance and his wife Lauren and Nicole Vieira and her husband Joshua all of New Bedford; his grandchildren, Patrick and Amia LaFrance of New Bedford; his siblings, Yvette Sparks and husband Larry of New Bedford, Fred LaFrance and wife Coral of Rochester, Ronald LaFrance and wife Patti-Anne of New Bedford, Diane Malaguti of Acushnet, Albert LaFrance and wife Anne of Weymouth and Carol Ann McGinnis and husband John of New Bedford; his grand dog, Meeko; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother-in-law of the late Donald Malaguti.
