Ilda M. Pacheco

Born in St. Michael, Azores, the daughter of the late Jeronimo and Ermelinda Soares (Couto) Medeiros, she came to the United States in 1970 and settled in New Bedford.

She had worked as a stitcher in local textile mills.

She was a woman of faith who enjoyed singing and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved cooking and baking and was well known for her Portuguese sweet bread, malassadas, and rice pudding.

Surviving in addition to her husband is a son, Paul G. Pacheco and his wife Christine of New Bedford; three grandchildren, Rebecca Michaela Pacheco, Benjamin Paul Pacheco and Luke Thomas Pacheco; her sisters, Lilliana, Basilia, Adelaide, Graziela and Aguida; her brothers, Messias, Maciel and the late Cornelio and Norberto; and many nieces and nephews.
