Joann C. Scott

Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Joseph C. and Harriet (Houghton) Ribeiro she was a lifelong city resident.

Joann graduated from New Bedford High School and Fisher College. She worked over 40 years and retired from Acushnet Company. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting and selling her goods at craft fairs. Mrs. Scott was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church and the Women’s Guild. Joann also enjoyed trips to Foxwoods for BINGO and other area casinos.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Stephen Scott of New Bedford, Linda Souza and her husband Roger of Acushnet, and Craig Scott of New Bedford; three grandchildren, Alissa and Katelyn Souza and Niya Scott; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was the mother of the late Lisa M. Scott and sister of the late Beverly Bourbeau and Dorothy Cook.

Her funeral will be Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 10 am in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 4-6 pm.
