Born in Ribeira Seca, Ribeira Grande, Acores, Larry was the cherished son of the late Joao Medeiros and Lurdes (Alves) Medeiros. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to his family and friends.
Larry was married to his beloved wife, Maria R. (Costa) Medeiros, for 49 ½ years. Together, they built a life full of beautiful memories, laughter, and love. A dedicated father, he is survived by his two sons, Jeffrey Medeiros of New Bedford and Pedro Medeiros and his wife Lina of New Bedford, as well as his daughter Jessica Medeiros of New Bedford. Larry was also the proud grandfather of three grandchildren, Aubrie, Novalie, and Mason, who brought him endless joy and pride.
Larry’s life was marked by a strong work ethic and a warm heart. He worked as a yacht laborer and spent many years as a part-time bartender at local Portuguese bars, where he enjoyed the camaraderie of his community. A proud member of the Portuguese Army, Larry carried with him a deep sense of patriotism and pride for his heritage.
A man of many passions, Larry had a particular love for all things sweet—his sweet tooth was legendary. He took great joy in making fresh cheese, a tradition he continued throughout his life. Larry was an avid fan of Sporting soccer and loved spending time at the casino, especially playing Keno with high hopes of winning big. His love for cruising, taking naps, and vacationing with family was unmatched, as was his love for the lively atmosphere of Portuguese feasts and bars. Larry also enjoyed watching YouTube videos and listening to music, often sharing his favorite moments with those he loved.
In addition to his immediate family, Larry is survived by his sister, Leonor Barbosa of South Dartmouth, and many nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart. He was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Southcoast VNA for their compassionate care during Larry's final days. They would also like to thank their family and friends for their unwavering support during this time.
Larry will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones, and he will always be remembered for his kindness, warmth, and the joy he brought into every room.
