Lorraine E. Poirier

Lorraine E. Poirier, age 93, passed away peacefully Monday, December 26, 2022 in St. Luke’s Hospital.
Born in Franklin a daughter of Philbert and Diana A. (Bourgeois) Poirier she was a longtime resident of Dartmouth.
A graduate of St. Anthony’s High School, Class of 1947, she worked as a receptionist for Dr. Abesh for 15 years. Ms. Poirier was then a home health aide for 10 years before retiring.
A former communicant of St. Julie Billiart, St. Joseph’s, St. Anthony’s and most recently St. Mary’s, she was a member of St. Joseph’s Cursillo group and volunteered at St. Anthony’s Soup Kitchen. Skilled at knitting, she crafted hats for newborns and also enjoyed reading, dancing and watching the New England Patriots, especially Tom Brady. Through the years she delighted in her summers spent on Monomoy Point going to the beach and digging for clams.
She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Blanche Anthony, Dorothy A. Espindola, Robert Poirier and Irene “Claire” Cormier; and the love of her life, her fiance, Harry Nourjian.
Her Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2022 at 10:00 AM in St. Julie Billiart, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth followed by burial in Sacred Heart, New Bedford.
