Maria Alexandrina Ferreira, passed away on Tuesday February 27th, 2024, on a short journey with Alzheimer’s disease. Alexandrina (Alex) as she was lovingly called by all, was born October 14, 1943, St. Michael, Azores to the late Fernando and Maria Cabral. She was the eldest of five siblings, Fernanda Rezendes, Zulima Branco, Joe Cabral, and Fernando Cabral.
Alexandrina was married to the late Elio Ferreira, and three children were born from this union.
Her loving husband Elio having passed away on October 22, 2023, was the longest the two of them had ever been separated. He welcomed her home after 57 years of marriage and once again they were reunited.
Our mother is survived by her three children, Paula (John) Lisboa, Leslie (Scott) Boan, and Christopher (Monica) Ferreira. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Devin and Alex Lisboa, Hunter and Reese Boan, and Ethan and Mason Ferreira.
She was an excellent cook who embraced and adored her Portuguese heritage as well as finding happiness creating amazing main dishes and delectable desserts. She loved nothing less than spending time with family, grandchildren, and close friends. She dedicated her life to the care of everyone around her, always putting everyone’s needs in front of her own. She showered her children and grandchildren with the most amazing foods and endless amounts of love.
“Mom, our hearts are shattered but we are comforted in knowing that you're no longer in pain and that Dad is holding your hand as we did on your last breath. We love you more than words can ever describe, and we’ll miss you completely until we can hold your hands again. We love you, Paula, Leslie, and Chris.”
All of those she loved and touched deeply. Please join us celebrating her life at Rock Funeral Home, Friday March 15th, 2024, between the hours of 4:00pm – 7:00pm and Mass will be held Saturday, March 16th, 2024, 10:00 am at St. John Neumann Church, East Freetown.
