Born in Lockport, NY and raised in Wayland, MA, Michael attended Marian High School and went on to graduate from the University of Massachusetts. Michael and his family moved to Cape Cod in 1972. He was an accomplished musician and it was on Cape Cod that he found his audience.
A talented guitar player, singer, and natural entertainer, Michael loved to perform rock, folk and Irish music at venues throughout the Cape during the 80s and 90s. After graduating, Michael worked in hotel management before finding a sales career that spanned decades and included automotives, security systems and most recently timeshares. He was a very dedicated employee, valued by many and worked right up until his passing.
Michael had a larger than life personality and could light up any room. He enjoyed music, photography, following all New England sports, reading, being near the ocean and quality time with loved ones. He faced many health challenges later in life and fought until the very end. He will be greatly missed.
Michael leaves his daughter, Katherine O'Neil of Plymouth, MA and his son and daughter-in-law, Rory and Hannah O'Neil of Northfield, VT. He was predeceased by his sister Loraine (Laurie) O'Neil and his parents Ruth M O’Neil and Donald E O’Neil.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
