Mildred L. Connor

Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Barton Shaw Hartley and Estelle (Stetson) Hartley, she had resided in New Bedford before moving to Acushnet 68 years ago.

She was a graduate of New Bedford High School, class of 1947.

Mrs. Connor had worked as the secretary to the superintendent of Acushnet Public Schools for 23 years.

Mildred enjoyed traveling, gardening and bird watching. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son, Martin Connor and her daughter Louise Tapper and son-in-law Charles; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Downie and her husband Stuart, Caitlin Joseph and her husband David, Matthew Tapper, Alyssa Connor and Liam Connor; five great-grandchildren, Easton Joseph, Logan Downie, Coco Joseph, Harper Downie and Makoa Joseph; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Florence Nunes.

Her Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 28, 2024 with Visiting Hours from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions in Mildred’s memory be made to the LCpl Matthew R. Rodriguez Foundation, PO Box 358, Raynham, MA 02768.
