Nuno A Moniz

Nuno A. Moniz, age 64, of New Bedford, died Monday, March 2, 2015 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth after a long illness. He was born on May 19, 1950 in Fenais da Ajuda, Ribeira Grande, Azores, to the late Jose Moniz Velho and the late Lucinda Leite (deMelo) Velho.

Nuno worked in the construction industry for many years, retiring at the age of 51. He enjoyed volunteering as a Youth Soccer Coach and was a member of the Portuguese-American Soccer League in New Bedford.

He is survived by 2 sons: Scott N. Moniz of Tampa, FL and Todd Moniz of MS; 3 grandchildren: Alyssa, Marley and Kai Moniz; 1 brother: Rev. Armindo Moniz of Ontario, Canada; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Jose Moniz.

His Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 6, 2015 at 10:00 am in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by burial in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 8 pm. Relatives and friends invited.
