Born in Fall River, a son of the late Honore and Marie Louise (Berube) Carrier, he graduated from B.M.C. Durfee High School.
Paul worked for the New Bedford Standard Times for 37 years in various positions. He was a daily communicant of St. Joseph-St. Therese Church where he was very active and had been a member of the Secular Third Order of St. Francis since 1956.
Paul was a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, and Marian Medal recipient. He was a gifted, self-taught piano and violin player. In addition to working at the Standard Times, he was a self-employed piano tuner. He was also a talented woodworker.
Mr. Carrier enjoyed creating gadgets and being an amateur inventor. He also enjoyed making homemade wine. His family will remember him for envisioning the world’s first musical greeting card.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Denise M. Carrier of New Bedford and Marian Payant and her husband Romain of New Bedford; a son, Joseph F. Carrier and his wife Sharon of Dartmouth; four grandchildren, Michelle Payant, Michael Payant, Cristina Carrier, and Jennifer Green; six great grandchildren, Julianne, Emma, Collin, Genevieve, Grant, and Gabriel; a sister, Anne-Marie Desilets and her husband Donald; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Andre Carrier and Jean Carrier.
His funeral will be Friday, April 30, 2021 at 9 a.m. from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford. Burial will be private.
