Raymond Andre Bonneau, a lifelong New Bedford resident, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 88 years old. He was the husband of the late Alberta Madeline (Lavoie) Bonneau with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. He was the son of the late Joseph and Elsie (Breault) Bonneau.
Raymond was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean War. He worked as a machine operator for Revere Copper and Brass for 35 years until his retirement in 1993.
Raymond enjoyed going to Foxwoods, telling jokes, walking, whistling, music and was an avid gardener and Red Sox fan.
Survivors include 3 sons; Raymond D. Bonneau and his wife Joy of Carver, Paul Bonneau of New Bedford, Russell Bonneau and his wife Pauline of Lakeville, 2 daughters; Michele Frates and her husband Michael of Acushnet, Suzanne Rego and her husband Andrew of Fairhaven, 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Muriel Bonneau Coderre, Jacqueline Bonneau, Roland Bonneau and he was the grandfather of the late Michael R. Frates.
A visiting hour prior to his funeral Mass will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019 from 9-9:45am at the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. His funeral Mass will be held at St Mary’s Parish, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford at 10am. Burial is private.
