Ruben Vazquez, 39, of New Bedford, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 28, 2017. He was the husband of Amy L. (Reul) Vazquez, whom he adored. Ruben and Amy shared an incredible 10 years of marriage together. They share two beautiful children, Emmett and Isabella Vazquez.
Born in Bronx, New York, the son of Ramon Vazquez and Nereida (Oyola) Adorno, he had resided in New Bedford for most of his life.
Ruben was the Director of Activities at Landmark Senior Living in Fall River. There he brought love and compassion to the work place. His residents were more of a second family and he loved each one of them dearly. Ruben made it a priority to bring excitement and life to his residents. He used the talents he was blessed with to make their days special. Nothing was ever too much.
To say Ruben was the life of the party would be an understatement. When Ruben walked into a room he lit it up with every step he took. He was beloved by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him, from his brightening smile, radiating positivity, and contagious laugh. He has an amazing soul like no other in this world, a soul that will never fade away. His comical character would turn around anyone’s bad day. His sense of humor, sassiness, and sometimes rude remarks would have you rolling on the floor trying to catch a breath. Ruben had a glow about him. The type of glow that made people want to know who he was, what he was about. There was never a dull moment with Ruben, HE WAS THE FUN. He made sure to make everyone feel welcomed and accepted no matter whom they were. Love was everything to him. Love was first; love is what he gave to this world. His pure heart and simple kindness captivated all around. Ruben lived and breathed for his family. His wife and children were everything and more to him. Ruben enjoyed the essence of fatherhood and went above and beyond for his children. There was no such thing as spoiling his babies because to him they deserved the world. Ruben would proudly brag about his beautiful family because with them he had it all. Ruben and his wife shared an exceptional kind of love. Ruben and Amy were true love, a love that is understanding, a love that is accepting, a love that is passionate, a love that only the lucky seem to find. They were each other’s best friends, backbone, and the love of each other’s lives. Amy was the queen to his pharaoh, a pedestal she will forever have. Unbreakable bonds are what Ruben had with his family. His special bond with his sisters and brother is a treasure that will never be replaced. They were not simply just siblings, they liked each other, they loved each other, they felt for one another, they were each other’s best friends. Their relationship was unique and their love for each other was immeasurable. Aside from being a family man, Ruben was also known as a phenomenal artist. His drawings and handmade costumes will stand the test of time. His artwork will be his legacy and his children were his ultimate masterpiece. Ruben’s beautifully, eccentric, warming soul impacted many of lives. He encouraged people to see the light in any situation. He had the gift of bringing out the best in anyone. Ruben was the definition of an amazing role model, the prime example of how to be an outstanding father, devoted husband, and overall the best human being a person could be. There will never be another Ruben Vazquez.
