Sonia Joan Johnson-Blake

Sonia Joan Johnson-Blake, 65 of New Bedford, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2022 in Hope Hospice Hulitar Hospice Center with her loving family at her side. She was the loving wife of Horace R. Blake to whom she shared 23 years of marriage.

Born in Spalding, Clarendon, Jamaica, a daughter of Linda (Coley) Campbell and the late Dudley Johnson. Sonia was employed as a Line Runner for Titleist for 24 years, retiring in 2022. She was a longtime member of the Calvary Pentecostal Church in New Bedford.

Sonia loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren. She was a kind hearted woman, with the brightest smile and the loudest laugh and always had the last word. She was truly a genuine person and woman of faith. Sonia enjoyed traveling, working in her flower garden and being with her family.

In addition to her loving husband Horace, she is survived by her children, Samantha Blake of New Bedford, Haria Dawson of Washington, Kadian Bartley of Jamaica and Tanicky Morgan of New Bedford and Horace Blake Jr. and his companion, Valerie Weller of New Bedford; Her siblings Marcia Goldbourne of New Bedford and Sharon Campbell of Florida and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Rosetta and Floyd Francis.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 6, 2022 from 5:00 to 8:00PM in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 10:00 AM in the Calvary Pentecostal Church, 33 Braley Rd., East Freetown, MA 02717. Burial will be private.
