Steven J. Mello

Steven J. Mello, a beloved, hard-working, wise-cracking individual passed away on May 14, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on September 7, 1956, in Acushnet, Steven was a graduate of New Bedford High School.

Prior to his retirement, Steven was employed as a driver for Neighbor Care. He was the son of the late Herbert and Theresa (Cournoyer) Mello.

Steven was a devoted father to Erin Denham and grandfather to her children, Nathan and Jacob Denham of Rochester. He is survived by his brother, Ronald Mello, and his companion Ana George of Wareham, and was the cherished uncle of Becca, Ted, and Ben Mello. Steven was predeceased by his brothers, David and Philip Mello.

Steven had a passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles and fishing. He spent much of his life as a mechanic and enjoyed football parties on Sundays. He was often found working on cars in the garage listening to his favorite tunes or cracking jokes with friends and family. Above all, Steven loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren, leaving behind a legacy of devotion and love.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025 from 10:00 to 12:00PM followed by a funeral service at 12:00PM in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford, MA 02745. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial in St. John's Cemetery.
