Born in New Bedford, a son of Aguinaldo DeBrito of New Bedford and the late Irene (Medeiros) DeBrito, he was a lifelong area resident.
Wayne attended Swain School of Design. He worked for many years as a very talented sign painter all over the City of New Bedford. He also worked for Sunbeam Bread and Titleist.
Wayne was a huge New England Sports fan and he loved to listen to rock and roll. Everywhere he went in the city, when he saw someone he knew, he would greet them with a smile and a wave. He was a loving, caring man who was always laughing and telling jokes. The way he lit up a room will be greatly missed by many.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his beloved daughter, Heather DeBrito of New Bedford; two grandchildren, Gianna Pina and Bryson Bourassa; two brothers, Robert DeBrito of N. Dartmouth and Brian DeBrito of E. Freetown; nephew and nieces, Ryan DeBrito, Tiffany Contois, Kellie-Ann DeBrito, and Tricia DeBrito; great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was the brother of the late Judith Cobb.
His family will receive relatives and friends Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. A gathering for family and friends will follow immediately after the service. For online tribute www.rock-funeralhome.com.
