

William “Bill” M. Medeiros, age 91, of New Bedford, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband for 59 years, of the late Doris (Cormier) Medeiros.
Born in Fairhaven, a son of the late Manuel T. and Louisa (Bowden) Medeiros, he was a life-long resident of New Bedford.
After Pearl Harbor was attacked, Bill left his job working at the Torpedo Station in Newport R.I. to enlist in the U.S. Navy. He served in the Unites States Navy during World War II as a gunner for Merchant Ships and later after the War worked as a Machinist at Morse Twist Drill Co. for 30+ years before retiring.
Survivors include: four children, Debra Roderiques and her husband Robert Sr. of Dartmouth, Mark Medeiros of New Bedford, Louise Andrade and her husband Richard also of New Bedford and Albert Medeiros and his partner Brian Davis of Citra, Florida; four grandchildren, Robert Roderiques, Jr. and his wife Melanie of Sagamore Beach, Melissa Pires of New Bedford, Benjamin Medeiros and his wife Rebecca of North Carolina and Leah Rodgers and her husband Ray of New Bedford; eleven great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Medeiros and his wife Marge of Dartmouth and several nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his companion Muriel Desrochers of Fairhaven.
He was predeceased by a son William A. Medeiros; a sister, Milly Fritton and one great grandson, Isaiah.
His funeral will be held Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 8 AM from the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, followed by his funeral mass at 9 AM in St. Kilians Church, 306 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours, Wednesday 5-8 PM.
