Al was born May 18, 1933 in Patterson, NJ. After graduating high school, Al proudly served his country in the Army for two years during the Korean War.
An avid member of the Garden Club, the Hunting Club, and Harbor Lights Players. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling with his beloved wife.
In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by a son, Paul Monid.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of forty years, Cathy Monid; four children and their spouses, James DeGroff, of New Bern, NC, Russel Monid, of Brandon, FL, John DeGroff, of Union City, NJ, and Alina Loux, and her spouse Derek Loux, of Lake Hiawatha, NJ; five wonderful and adored grandchildren, Jenna, Courtney, Zachary, Jessica, and Katie; and many extended family and friends.
Funeral arrangements and interment will be private under the care of Cotten Funeral Home and Crematory, 2201 Neuse Boulevard New Bern, NC 28560. There will be a celebration of his life Friday, April 2nd at 3:00 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church. Dinner will follow at The Flame restaurant in New Bern. Please come and celebrate his life with us.
