Alyssa was preceded in death by her father, Jason Talton, whose memory she carried close to her heart.
Alyssa was a loving mother, devoted daughter, cherished sister, and treasured friend. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Emily Corinne Wood—her “Doodlebug”—who was the absolute light of her life. The bond between Alyssa and Emily was unbreakable and filled with laughter, warmth, and unconditional love.
She is also survived by her mother, Candace Talton whom she had countless adventures and memories with and who loved her more than words could say; her sister and best friend, Heaven Leigh Shaughnessy—affectionately known to each other as “Brotato Chip”; her adored nephews, Jaxson and Arlis; her grandparents, Lee “Grandy” and Glenda Talton and Athyea Green; aunts and uncles Kerry, Kevin, Kyle, Truman, and Jessica; and Emily’s father, Ethan Wood. They had been apart of each others lives from a young age and always had a deep bond from the moment they met. Although Jessica was her aunt, Alyssa and Jessica grew up together, and were extremely close not only in age but at heart, they were more like best friends than aunt and niece.
Alyssa was the first grandchild born into the Talton family, and she embraced that role with a radiant smile and a joyful spirit. She shared a special bond with her grandmother Athyea also known as “Graham Cracker”, especially during their quiet times spent crafting together—moments filled with creativity, conversation, and connection.
She holds a dear spot in many people’s hearts, both family and friends. Favorite memories include Alyssa’s obsession with cats at a young age. Her aunt Kerry recalls her petting her favorite stuffed cat while saying “kitty kitty” in a funny voice. Her uncle Kevin would tease her growing up telling her she had a twin sister named “Melissa” that lived in the attic that he toss rocks to every so often. Her uncle Kyle has a quote he has found great comfort in throughout this time “Those we love never truly leave us, there are things that death cannot touch.” Her sister Heaven recalls Alyssa’s quick witted humor. Always making jokes at just the right time when you needed them most. Her favorite joke they would always look back on was when Heaven told Alyssa something wasn’t her cup of tea and Alyssa without hesitation said “-quiela!”
Though her time on Earth was far too short, the impact of Alyssa’s love will echo through the lives of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
As she would always say, she loves you all.
Infinity square & Great Day.
