

She was born on December 17, 1942, in Chester, PA to Theodore L. Downey and Ada M. Craig.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Thayer-Dubier, son, Theodore J. Thayer, two grandchildren, Austin and Noah, and two sisters, Dora Leopard and Ginger Trombley.
She was predeceased by her husband, Floyd J. Thayer, in 2005, and eldest son, F. Craig Thayer, in 2016, one sister, Myra Piazza, in 2018, her father in 1980, and her mother in 1993.
During her life, she was joined by her husband in service with The Salvation Army, and enjoyed many wonderful activities that kept family together. They were ranked Majors upon retirement in 1997.
The family will receive friends at Cotten Funeral Home from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 29, 2024 followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:30 pm at the Salvation Army of New Bern, 310 Queen Street, New Bern, NC 28560. A reception will follow at the Assembly Hall.
