Billie Purdy Belangia

Billie Purdy Belangia, age 91, of Trent Woods, NC passed away Friday, February 10, 2023, at CarolinaEast Medical Center. Billie was born in Merrimon in Carteret County but lived most of his life in the New Bern area.

He was a veteran, having served in the United States Air Force. He retired as Naval Supply Manager from USMC Cherry Point, NC.

Billie was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying the football and basketball seasons from his favorite recliner.

He was preceded in death by his parents John Allen Belangia and Georgia Cannon Belangia; his wife and the love of his life, Talya McKinney Belangia; brother John Allen "Bud" Belangia; two sisters, Aurie Belle Belangia Hale and Ruby Frances Belangia Bettinger.

Surviving Billie are his sons Donald Belangia and wife Carol, Ronald Belangia, and David Belangia and wife Kay; Grandsons Michael Belangia and wife Susan and Scott Belangia; Great Grandsons Tristan "Dylan" Oberci, Dustin Welch, and Thoren Belangia. And a special neighbor Linda Muir.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Monday, February 13, 2023 at Cotten Funeral Home. Funeral Service will take place at 12:00 PM in the chapel. He will be laid to rest beside his wife at Greenleaf Memorial Cemetery privately.
