
Carl Daniel Birkevaag Jr. of Ridgefield, NJ passed away peacefully on May 15, 2024. He was born on January 3rd 1931 in Teaneck, NJ to Carl Daniel and Anna Helena (Danielsen) Birkevaag Sr. He was married on January 30, 1954 for 66 years to Dorothy Ann (Tomlin) of Ridgefield, NJ. He graduated from the Stevens Institute of Technology BSME with honors class of 1952 and MSIE class of 1959. He served from 1953- 1955 as a member of the Army Corps of Engineers.
He worked in the Aerospace industries for almost 40 years. He specialized in value engineering and cost analysts. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Society of Value Engineers served as the Local Chapter trustee, and the International Society of Parametric Analysts as a charter member. He was a member of ITT Bridge team.
He was a Member of the English Neighborhood Reformed Church. He was a past Member of the Church Governing Counsil and treasurer. His faith and service was unwavering.
Carl was a voracious reader and loved football and baseball games. You could count on him giving you the latest scores on the games. He was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and friend. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren.
His wife Dorothy Ann and daughter Barbara Ann preceded Carl in death. He had longed to be reunited with his beautiful wife and daughter.
He is survived by Son and daughter in-law David and Mary Birkevaag Emerald Isle, granddaughters Jenna Birkevaag Emerald Isle, NC, Samantha Swider Scituate, MA, Caitlin Swider Waterboro, ME, niece Pam Luzi and nephew Scott Tomlin.
Family, friends and others whose lives Carl touched are invited to the English Neighborhood Reformed Church 1040 Edgewater Ave, Ridgefield, NJ on June 22, 2024 at 10AM for a memorial service. In Lieu of flowers donation in Carl's memory to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
