

She was born September 28, 1947, in Waynesboro, PA. She graduated from Waynesboro High School in 1965 and received her nursing degree from Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC in 1968.
She served 42 years as a Cardiac Critical Care Nurse at Anne Arundel General Hospital in Annapolis, MD; Ft. Myers Community Hospital in Ft. Myers, FL; and Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern, NC.
She enjoyed sailing, reading, knitting and all things British: especially her husband, fish and chips, Premier Soccer and low, quick cars.
One of her favorite sayings was from the children's book The Wind in the Willows, "There's simply nothing, no nothing like simply mucking about in a boat".
She was preceded in death by her parents Geraldine Shank Geesaman and Clyde Elsworth Geesaman; brother-in-law Homer Millard Vernon, Jr.; sister-in-law Barbara Rathbone Wilkins and husband William and nephew Bill.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, John Latimer Rathbone from Walsal, England; her sister Glenda Henicle Vernon of Augusta, GA; nieces and nephews Alette Vernon Boyce and husband Todd of Allen, TX; Julie Vernon Purvis and husband Glen of Augusta, GA; Bethany Vernon Allen and husband Walt of Jacksonville, FL; Paul Hedegard and wife Christine of BC, Canada; Dianne Egan and husband Chris of BC, Canada; and Matthew Wilkins and wife Jackie of Coral Springs, FL.
Nine truly magical great nieces and nephews: Joshua and Jacob Purvis; Spencer and Jamie Boyce; Lucy and Veronica Allen; Max Hedegard; Chantal Kaelbel Wilkins and Liam Egan.
