

Ms. Jarvis was born on November 7, 1958 in Hopewell, VA to parents James E. and Helen
Janosik Jarvis.
She started school at St. James Catholic School in Hopewell and attended until 1967 when her family moved to Pascagoula, MS. Here she attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and Our Lady of Victories Junior High and High School, graduating in 1977. While a student in high school, she began working in advertising at Kmart in Pascagoula. She attended Jackson County Junior College in Gautier, MS pursuing an associate’s degree in art.
Ms. Jarvis relocated to North Carolina in the early 1980’s continuing to work in advertising at 96.3 HOT FM radio, then was employed as a visual display manager for Belk and later as a computer lab manager and test proctor at Cherry Point Marine Corp Base. Eventually, she settled in New Bern where she resided for the remainder of her life.
Ms. Jarvis was a self-taught guitarist, playing acoustic guitar from Junior High School age until her illness prevented her from doing so. She had a great love of music and enjoyed getting together with friends to play. She spent many years playing guitar for church choirs, most recently for Annunciation Catholic Church in Havelock where she was a parishioner for a number of years.
She had a great love of animals and for several years volunteered for BRAT (Basenji Rescue and Transport). She fostered a number of dogs over the years and had several companion dogs, most recently her female basenji, Seela, who survives her.
She enjoyed working in her yard. She had a green thumb when it came to growing plants and for many years she had a small garden. She loved to share plant cuttings and seeds with family and friends. She was a hard worker, a loyal friend and a multi-talented individual.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a much loved sister, Patricia Jarvis Green.
She is survived by two sisters, Mary Helen (Tommy) Richardson of Pascagoula, MS and
Katherine (Paul) Jarvis Hoover of Pikeville, TN; five nephews and nieces, 10 great nephews and nieces, several great-great nephews and nieces, a number of cousins and a host of friends.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Annunciation Catholic Church, 246 E. Main St, Havelock, NC with the Rev. James Buchholz officiating.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pascagoula, MS with interment following at Crestlawn Memorial Cemetery in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
