David Moreadith left this earth and went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for eternity on August 6, 2025. His first breath in Heaven taken seconds after his last breath on Earth, held in the arms of his loving and faithful wife of fifty-four years. He was blessed to have spent the last month of his life surrounded by his loving wife, their children and spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who all now eagerly await the day we will be able to join voices with him and sing praises once again.
“Pop” lived a life of quiet faithfulness, steadfastness and service to our Heavenly Father and did his best to ensure those around him knew of the love of God, the sacrifice of Jesus, and the forgiveness and grace awaiting all those who will accept it. Pop loved God, his family, his church, and his country. He and Mama built a legacy of faith, love and grace that will echo into eternity carried on by all those blessed to be theirs. Pop also loved Southern Gospel music and the old hymns, often humming and singing through his day. He was even heard singing, “I’d Rather Have Jesus” down the hospital halls, a song he often sang at home, and one that brought us all comfort in his final days. It was important to Pop that everyone he spoke to have a first-hand knowledge of Jesus, even witnessing to the physicians tasked with his care in his final days. He told his grandchildren his favorite passage was Psalm 23—verses he quoted to them and encouraged them to hold onto as they live their lives this side of heaven.
To write of all Pop was would take an entire book-- but, to us, Pop was everything—his provision, his humor, his advice, his love, his guidance—all the things that made him our home and our safe space--He was, at his core, a faithful and loving husband, a present and loving Daddy to his children and a cherished Grandpa that will forever be deeply missed.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4: 7-8.
