

NEW BERN / David H. Rohrbach, 68, of New Bern, NC passed away at home on August 23rd after a long battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was born and raised in Manchester, CT on December 3, 1946. He is preceded in death by his parents Barbara (Keeney) and Carl Rohrbach, Sr. Dave received a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from University of Hartford and a Master’s Degree in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He worked in the aircraft industry for a number of years and retired after 33 years of service with Alstom Power as a Business Development Manager.
Dave and his wife Barbara retired in 2005 and moved from Connecticut to beautiful New Bern. During retirement he coached in the Babe Ruth Youth Baseball League, volunteered at the Chamber of Commerce and built affordable housing as a “Die Hard” for Habitat for Humanity. He also drove the New Bern Trolley. Dave was an avid sports fan whose favorite team was the New York Yankees. He played Senior Travel Softball with the New Bern Pepsi Kids for many years. His true enjoyment was working part time for the past seven years providing Maintenance at Coastal Carolina Health Care. Dave and Barbara attended Centenary United Methodist Church in New Bern.
Dave is survived by his loving wife Barbara, his children Kristin Chadha of Cary, NC; Kerry Bunn and husband Ken of Raleigh, NC; David and wife Thea of Alexandria, VA; and Christine Borneo and husband Jason of Holly Springs, NC. He also leaves behind his precious grandchildren Taylor Smith, Jai & Jack Chadha, Nicolas & Caroline Rohrbach, Abigail Borneo, and Ethan and Hannah Bunn. He is survived by a brother, Carl Rohrbach Jr. and wife Pat of Somers, CT and a sister Kathleen Hughes and husband Jack of The Villages, FL.
Family will receive friends at Cotten Funeral Home, 2201 Neuse Blvd, New Bern, NC on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 from 5 PM to 7 PM. A memorial service to celebrate Dave’s life will be held in the Cotten Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 26, 2015.
Dave and his family would like to thank the entire staff at New Bern Cancer Care for their love, support and compassion. A special thanks to Dr. Chris Taylor. They would also like to thank Craven County Hospice for the special care they provided.
