Durwood Gray Rose

FUQUAY VARINA | Durwood G. Rose, 90, formerly of New Bern, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at his daughter's home in Fuquay Varina.He retired from the Coast Guard with 23 years of service and was a longtime member of Highland Park Christian Church. He was also a member of the Lions Club, Doric Masonic Lodge #568, New Bern York Rite Bodies, New Bern Scottish Rite, Sudan Temple and retired from Craven County Hospital as maintenance supervisor.He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou Rose and daughter Chris Pender.He is survived by his sons, Robert Rose (Stephanie) of Washington, NC, Larry (Randy) Pittman of Chocowinity, NC, and Wayne (Dianne) Pittman of Holly Springs, NC; daughter, Lisa Hooks (Ron) of Fuquay Varina; brother, Hershel Rose (Carol) of Ocean City, MD; sister, Aggie Eury of Concord, NC; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Highland Park Christian Church. Family will receive friends from noon-1 p.m. Burial will follow the service at Greenleaf Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Rheumatoid Association, P.O.
