George Ray Connor

New Bern --- George Ray Connor, loving husband, devoted father, and wonderful grandfather, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at the age of 64. George worked for Maola Milk & Ice Cream Company for many years as a driver before his retirement. He was proud to be a volunteer fireman and enjoyed serving his community as a member of West New Bern Fire Department. A member of Faith United Methodist Church, George loved the Lord and enjoyed serving the church as a soundman in previous years. He loved drag-racing, fishing, listening to good music and making people smile and laugh. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

George is survived by the love of his life, Mary Connor; his children, Kristy Knisely (Matthew), Melissa Connor, Shelton Harvell (Kathy), Tina Lipford, and Karen Fothergill (Tony); his sisters, Nancy Riggs and Connie Woodward; as well as sixteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren whom he loved dearly.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and again from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday at Cotten Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday with Pastor Jim Tosto officiating. Burial will follow at New Bern Memorial Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with Fireman's Honors.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the nurses and staff of 3HC Hospice Care for their compassionate support during George's illness.
