

Harold was born in South Amboy, New Jersey and lived in Helmetta, New Jersey most of his life before retiring and moving to New Bern in 2021.
Harold served in the Navy from 1957 to 1962. Shortly after he married his wife, Irene, and was married for 63 years and had five children. Harold worked as an electrician and contractor in Helmetta and surrounding towns for over 40 years in addition to other handyman services.
Harold was a big family man who loved cooking for his family every Sunday. He was a huge fan of the New York Yankees and enjoyed going to car shows. He loved his 57' Chevys and 1930 Model A.
His favorite thing to do was throwing Labor Day parties back in the day, going on road trips and to the dollar tree, and feeding animals at the park. His favorite places to take his family to eat were IHOP and Outback Steakhouse. Harold really enjoyed being a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He genuinely loved spending time with his family because they were his whole heart. Family time meant so much to him.
Harold was a special man, whose warmth, light, and joy positively touched anyone he met. He made friends wherever he went and always had a joke ready to tell. Harold was the type of guy who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it because he always loved helping people.
Harold was predeceased by his parents Charles and Susan Covington, his sister Margaret Gandy, and his two sons Harold Covington Jr and David Covington.
Harold is survived by his wife Irene Covington, his brother Charles Covington, his children Tammy Aarseth, Kevin Covington and wife Rosalie, and Susan Koscinski and husband Thomas, all 10 grandchildren Charles Aarseth, Nelson Covington, Alicea Giorgianni, Katelyn Oliva, Britni Covington, David Covington II, Tiffany Covington, TJ Koscinski, Sara Koscinski and Victoria Covington, and 5 great grandchildren Delilah Covington, Dominick Giorgianni IV, Alaina Giorgianni, Ava Oliva and Eisley Aarseth.
A celebration of life will be organized, and further details will follow soon.
