

Joy Frazier Whitehurst, 63, of New Bern, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 18th, 2021. She was a devoted wife who loved her children deeply and unconditionally. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and was a gifted vocalist who used her talent to bless others. In 1987 she began a daycare and was affectionately known as "Mama Joy" to countless children and families through the years. Joy was an amazing cook and loved to fish. She was known by many but loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Ervin Whitehurst; sons, Erik Whitehurst and Jason Whitehurst (Maegan); daughters, Faith Whitehurst and Melissa Beaman (Tyler); grandchildren, Mikayla Whitehurst, Alexa Whitehurst, Mia Whitehurst, Natalie Beaman, Benjamin Whitehurst, and Aaron Beaman; mother, Faye Rotz; sisters, Mandy Vierheller and Tammy Pittman; and brothers, Victor Frazier and Bobby Rotz.
Sadly, she was preceded in death by her father, David Loren Frazier and brother Robert Loren Frazier.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 22nd at the Lakeside Chapel at Greenleaf Memorial Park officiated by her son, Rev. Dr. Jason Whitehurst.
Flowers are appreciated or memorial contributions may be made in her name to the charity of one's choice.
