It is with great sadness that we announce Kenneth Woodruff Sewell Jr. has passed away peacefully in his home on February 18, 2025. Ken was born in Glen Ridge, NJ the son of Kenneth W. Sewell Sr. and Irene Sewell (Borlo). He was a well-loved husband, father, grandfather, dog lover, teacher, chef, and former cowboy.
After his time in the Marine Corps, Ken became a NJ State Park Ranger in Lake Wawayanda, NJ. After 9 years he decided to move out west to Nebraska with his former wife and son and try his hand as a cowboy while attending college at Sinte Gleska University on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation. After which he moved to upstate NY to have a fulfilling career as a psychotherapist. He truly loved to help people in his private practice.
With his hunting background he became a weapons enthusiast which sparked his interest in becoming an antique gun smith, along with a sword and knife maker. Ken was a true history buff with a focus on the Civil War. He and his current wife Pamela Sewell became so engrossed in the time period that they became historical reenactors. They spent many loving years collecting and making period reenactment gear together.
Ken enjoyed many things in life. Spending time telling stories and laughing with family and friends while either hunting or fishing was one of his most favorite things to do. He loved to cook for everyone. His delicious, creative dishes will be missed. Ken’s creativity stretched well past the kitchen. He loved to garden, write and paint. Some of his paintings were even displayed in and around New Bern.
