Lou Ann Schroeder, age 91, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026. She was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of New Song Methodist Church, where her kindness and servant’s heart touched many lives. Lou Ann had a deep love for helping others, which she carried throughout her life and into her work as a nursing assistant, where she compassionately cared for those in need.
She will be remembered for her warm spirit, generosity, and unwavering faith. Lou Ann’s presence brought comfort and joy to her family, friends, and all who knew her, and she will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gus and Eva Burchett, and her sister, Verna Faye Burchett.
Lou Ann is survived by her sons, Stephen Steinbaker and Jeffery Altman; her brother, Ronald Burchett; her sisters, Laverne Burchett, Corena McMillion, Linda Neuhaus, and Vickie Cato; as well as two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of whom will cherish her memory.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Southeast Missouri.
