

Howard had a profound love for his family, music, fishing, helping others and was a dedicated NC State fan, which brought him joy throughout his life. He proudly retired after 30 years of service with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, where he made lasting contributions to his community. In addition to his career, Louis devoted much of his time to serving his community as a volunteer EMT and fireman in Bear Creek, NC. His selfless acts of service and care for others defined him as a man of great character and kindness.
Howard is predeceased by his father, Louis Howard Elliott Sr.; mother-in-law, Margaret Brown; and his brother-in-law, Phil Holt. He is survived by his loving wife, Tammy Elliott; daughter, Crystal Elliott; his mother, Catherine Elliott; his father-in-law, Russell Brown; his sisters, Becky Elliott and Cathy McDuffie (Daniel), all of Bear Creek, NC; his brother-in-law, Dennis Brown (Marsha); sister-in-law, Denise Holt; and numerous nieces and nephews, including James Fields (Caitlin), Megan Emerson (James), Morgan Mellott (Gage), Jordan McDuffie, April Perry (Craig), Amy Pilkington (Garrett), Mary Margaret Dark (Ashlin), Matthew Brown, Tyler Holt (Cayley), April Hodge (Tim), Katie Smith (Kevin), and Daniel McDuffie Jr (Sheuna).
A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor Howard's memory. In this time of sorrow, his family takes comfort in the love and support they have received from all those whose lives Howard touched.
