Pauline Thole

Polly was born in Wheeling , WVA, but lived most of her life in New Bern , NC . She was the daughter of Florence and Charles Funk and was preceded in death by her two brothers, Paul Funk and John Funk. Polly was also preceded in death by her husband, John Thole, of Havelock , NC .

Polly spent the last phase of her working life as an LPN which she enjoyed immensely. She was a devout Christian and active in the Church all her adult life. Polly dearly loved her various church families including Broad Street Christian Church, Cherry Point Baptist Church , and Crossroads Baptist Church . She especially enjoyed making decorations for the fellowship hall for special events.

Polly is survived by her three children: Paula Hill and husband Don, of Newport , NC ; John Connor, of Lake Waccamaw , NC ; and Pat Shennum, and husband Jay, of Charlotte , NC . Paula is the daughter of Chris Haila (deceased), of Harkers Island , NC ; John and Pat are the children of Jesse Connor (deceased), of New Bern , NC . Polly is also survived by four grandchildren: Donnie Hill; Jennifer Harrup and her husband, Matt; Christina Hill; and Ben Connor.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org), or the American Veterans Association (www.amvet.org).

Visitation will be on Saturday, July 9th, from 10-11:00 a.m. , immediately followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. ; both will be held at Cotten Funeral Home, 2201 Neuse Blvd, New Bern, NC. The burial will take place at Greenleaf Memorial Park , 900 River Rd , New Bern , NC , immediately following the service.
