Phillip McCoy’s sunshine put color on us. He’s a soft spoken, humble man whose words radiated with sunshine, whose quick wits propelled bursts of sunshine, whose kindness and grace saw sunshine in everyone, whose persistence and hard work created sunshine on the rainiest days, whose gentle spirit and loving heart filled others with sunshine, too. Sunshine is love; Phil is the sun.
Phil was born June 28, 1935 in Cove City, where he lived the majority of his life. He owned and operated McCoy’s Food Center and hog farm. He was a loving father who showed his children the beauty of nature, adventure and God’s love.
Phillip passed away on Nov. 11, 2015 surrounded by people who love him so much. He is survived by his two sons Perry McCoy, Kelly McCoy and wife Tammy, son-in-law Roy Whaley, daughter-in-law Debbie Castelow, brother Brantley McCoy, Grandchildren: Adam Matthews and wife Miranda, Casey Childers and husband Andrew, Alex McCoy and wife Nicole, Geoffrey Whaley, Kaela McCoy. Great grandchildren: Kinley, Drew and Jaxon.
He was preceded in death by his children Grayson McCoy, Phillipia Whaley, Andy McCoy, and brothers Willis McCoy, Darold McCoy, Fletcher McCoy and wife Johnnie.
Family will receive fiends on Friday November 13, 2015 from 6-8 PM at Cotten Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Cove City Christian Church at 2pm.
