Ralph Linwood Jones

Ralph was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Guthrie Jones in 2007, his father Milton Jones, mother Doris Jones, Brother John William Jones, Brother Arnold Jones (Punk) Sister Barbara Hester, sister Mildred Wyatt.

He is survived by his sister Laverne Hall husband Buddy of Virginia Beach, Step son Larry Mares wife Lori, Three grandsons Joey Mares, Ashley, Michael Mares, Ashley, Steven Lupton Lisa, grand children Brooklyn mares, Jaxon Mares, Olivia Mares, Key Lee Jo Mares Cameron Lupton, Graydon Lupton, Alley Jones – Lupton Jerry Jones Lupton, and nephew Brent hall of Virginia Beach. Ralph worked for 30 Year for LR Thomas and sons General contractors until their retirement and afterwards work over ten years with North Carolina DOT with Bridge maintenance in which he retired.

Ralph enjoyed tinkering on various things until his health stopped him. He enjoyed herring, and shad fishing for many years and other river and sound fishing. He was involved in many projects of beautiful Restorations with Pete and John Thomas- Tryon Palace, Moon House Stanley Wright house, the academy building, Episcopal Christ l Church restoration steeple restoration as well as many First Citizens Banks.

The family will receive friends from 12:00pm to 1:00pm Thursday, July 7, 20222 at Cotten Funeral Home the service will follow starting at 1:00pm. Burial will be private.

A special appreciation to Mrs. Alberta Harvey his best friend and neighbor. Shelly, Ramona, Natalie, Medda, Jeff Daley, the wonderful Hospice nurse that attended to him.

Special thanks to all the friends and staff from various health organizations that assisted in his last days and hours as he transitions from this imperfect world to that perfect place that house not made with hands eternal in the heavens.

He is at peace not hurting anymore.
