He loved all things automotive. He had a long career as an auto mechanic. He enjoyed race cars and drag racing in his younger years. He "could not carry a tune in a bucket" but loved listening and singing Christian music, KLOVE, and Air One. He spent much time fishing with his daughter at the Old Bridge in Bridgeton. He enjoyed rummaging through the junk yards. He loved his dog, Coco and enjoyed spending time with her on the back porch. He was a devoted Charter Member of CrossRoads Baptist Church and he served as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher to the youth, and most of all he loved his church family and friends. He especially loved those covered dish dinners after church service.
The family would like to thank the New Bern Police Department, New Bern Fire Department, New Bern EMS staff, and the CarolinaEast Emergency Department staff and doctors for their swift assistance in all they did for Ricky.
