

Richard Shelton Tuttle Jr., age 34, was a lifelong resident of New Bern, NC. After a courageous battle with cancer, Richard passed away surrounded by family at Duke University Hospital on February 28, 2014. Richard was born and raised in New Bern, NC and graduated from New Bern High School and Craven Community College. He worked as a courier at FedEx in New Bern.
Richard was the beloved husband of Elizabeth Arthur Tuttle for almost 9 years and sweetheart of 11 years. He was one of two children born to Debbie and Dickie Tuttle of New Bern, as well as the grandson of Helen Tuttle Rackley of New Bern. Richard will forever be remembered by his sister Melissa Tuttle Norman and her husband Roy Norman. Richard was a devoted and loving son-in-law to Brenda and Charlie Berry of New Bern. He will be dearly missed by his brother and sister-in-law, Robbie and Alison Arthur and their children Cody and Kaylee, who all reside in Panama City, FL. Along with immediate family, Richard was blessed to have countless other friends and family who were fortunate to know him.
Richard loved Duke basketball, listening to music from the 90’s, playing golf, cooking, grilling, laughing, being with his family and friends and enjoying the simple pleasures of life.
Richard touched the lives of many people with his smile, generosity, and sense of humour all the way to the end. Friends and family are invited to attend visitation from 6pm till 8pm on Tuesday, March 4th at Cotten Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 5th at 11:00 in the Cotten Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
