Robert W. Kroeger died on May 17, 2020 in New Bern, North Carolina; he was 93 years old. He was raised in one of eight homes his maternal Grandfather built for his children in Baltimore. The second of two children, he is preceded in death by his sister Joan Stephanie Kenney and his wife of 54 years, Margaret.
He enlisted with the permission of his parents, Robert W. Sr. and Loretta Moylan Kroeger, In the United States Army Air Corp in 1944 at 17 and served in Bavaria Germany as part of the occupation army of WWII (1945-1947). Army Air Corps Reserve 1944-1951.
He had an extensive career as an Executive Officer in several national companies including Montgomery Ward, where he met his wife, and National Brewing Co. at both the Baltimore and Miami locations.
He had an impressive record of community service in Punta Gorda, Florida where he was Commisioner of Charlotte County Airport Authority and, Chairman of the Punta Gorda Police Pension Board as well as Chairman and Counselor of SCORE for Charlotte/DeSoto Counties, and various other positions.
He was an avid sailor and sailboat owner and maintained his pilot’s license. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his late sister’s children: Kate, Ned, Mary, Bob and Patrick Kenney and their families.
