OBITUARY

Sommer Armstrong Adams

18 July, 1985 – 17 January, 2025
IN THE CARE OF

Cotten Funeral Home

Sommer Armstrong Adams, 39, of Cove City, North Carolina passed away on January 17, 2025. Sommer was born in Craven County, North Carolina on July 18, 1985, to Nancy Armstrong Adams and Samuel Lee Adams Jr.

Sommer graduated from C.C.C. After graduation she spent many years between community colleges in New Bern, Greenville, and Wilmington. Sommer also worked on and off for short periods in the service and hospitality industry. Dealing with her many health conditions hampered her school and work experience.

Sommer enjoyed many activities: taking pictures of everyone around her, painting, applying makeup, hairstyling, and any activity at the river or ocean.

Punctuality was not a strength of hers. She was not a homebody and was always on the go.

Sommer’s greatest accomplishment and love of her life was her son, Waylon.

Life with Sommer was often challenging, she was a force to be reckoned with. Her spirit burned bright even when the path was difficult.

We all know Sommer did not shy away from a challenge, she tested boundaries and even caused us pain. Her emotions were fiery, her opinions strong and her determination to live life on her own terms was unwavering. In the hearts of those who loved her she will forever be our “Sommer”.

Sommer is survived by her parents, brother Samuel “Kyle” Adams, an honorary brother Kenny Koonce, special friend Jerry Mills, Grandfather Robert Armstrong, an aunt and uncle and many cousins.

She is predeceased by her grandparents Tom and Reba Adams of Cove City and her grandmother Thelma Armstrong of New Bern.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the trauma unit at CarolinaEast Medical Center for the care they gave Sommer and especially the help and kindness they showed her family.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association, Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, or the Ronald McDonald House in Greenville, NC.

“And she loved a little boy very, very much- even more than she loved herself.”
