Susan Lynne Dorsey

Susan Lynne Dorsey passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. She battled Alzheimer’s for 7 years. She was a grand, strong lady. Mrs. Dorsey earned a BS in Art Education from Eastern Illinois University. She also obtained graduate credits from Mississippi State University. During her long career, she taught at the elementary level, the middle school years, and high school. In Mississippi, she taught art at Wood Junior College for ten years . Susan volunteered for a number of years bringing art and creative writing to Seniors in Assisted Care Facilities as well as bringing art to elementary students. Finally, coming to East Carolina University she taught and served in the Teaching Resource Center of Joyner Library for another eight years. Many students said Susan was the best person they ever had for assistance.

Susan Lynne Dorsey is survived by her husband Michael, sons Nick and Shea, a daughter in law, Jennifer Dorsey, and grandsons, Isaac, Cannon, Deacon, a granddaughter, Nicola and Whitney Murphy.
