Suzanne R. Schrenk

16 June, 1940 – 4 September, 2024
IN THE CARE OF

Cotten Funeral Home

Suzanne R. Schrenk, a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, loving wife, mother, and devoted community servant, passed away on September 4, 2024, at 84.

Sue was passionate about gardening, earning Master Gardner distinction, and her faith. She found great joy in both. As a cherished member of her church, she served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years.

She also loved music and shared this love by singing Handel's Messiah every year with the local community chorus, a tradition she kept close to her heart.

In addition to her faith and love for the arts, Sue was an enthusiastic supporter of the Girl Scouts, sharing her wisdom and passion with future generations. She also worked tirelessly as the Volunteer Coordinator at Family House in Pittsburgh, PA, and later at the Merci Clinic, in New Bern, NC where she acted as the interim Director continuing her lifelong mission of service and kindness.

Sue will be remembered not only for her many accomplishments but for her gentle heart, warm smile, and the love she extended to all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years Paul B. Schrenk, her children Steven Schrenk (Monica), Nancy Machamer (Matt), Amy Wohlfahrt (Michael), and Andrew Schrenk (Kristen) as well as eleven grandchildren and many friends and loved ones.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Paul Healy and the dedicated staff at Eastern Carolina Internal Medicine (ECIM) in New Bern, NC. Dr. Healy’s compassionate care, expertise, and unwavering support brought comfort and peace during a difficult time. His commitment to providing exceptional medical care will always be remembered with deep gratitude.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in her honor to the Craven Messiah Chorus, Inc. at P.O. Box 455, New Bern, NC, 28563-0455 or Family House, 5308 Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA, 15224. https://familyhouse.org/

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Cotten Funeral Home Chapel. She will be laid to rest on Monday, September 9, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in New Bern, North Carolina.

Cotten Funeral Home is honored to serve the family and friends of Suzanne R. Schrenk.
