She was the last surviving child of Robie Pike and Theodore Glenn Williams of Cove City, NC. Born June 26, 1936, she grew up with her brothers and sisters, Henry, Glenn, Zola, Jessie and Evelyn; all who pre-deceased her. One sister-in-law, Rachel Heath Williams remains to cherish her memory.
Known as "Forrest" during her professional career as a nursing assistant, first at Pitt County Hospital and later at Craven Regional Medical Center, she retired after serving Obstetrics and Orthopedic patients for over 40 years. This was a career she loved and never wished to change.
During this time, she met Virginia Wood and her family, and they became much like her own family. Forrest was loved and will truly be missed by Vickie Wood, Gladys Cox and her 2 children and 6 grandchildren who from birth knew her as their beloved "Aunt Forrest."
Known as "Aunt Wannie" by her surviving 16 nieces, nephews and abundant group of grands and great grands, she doted on all. She was always willing to help, give and serve everyone, but all would agree she would speak her mind. Her family was her joy and she always kept track as to what each one was "up to." Her niece, Ann sums it up very simply - There will never be another "Aunt Wannie." She gave so much while asking for very little in return.
Known as "Thelma" during her final years at Bayview Nursing Facility, she often could be found assisting, checking on and sometimes sneaking treats to fellow patients (and caregivers), always taking care of others!
She quietly and peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus on Thursday morning, September 2, 2021 with Vickie and Ann nearby.
Daughter, sister, sister-in-law, devoted aunt and dear friend, thank you for spending your earthly life with us.
Visitation will start at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7th at Cotten Funeral Home, followed by the funeral service. She will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Whaley Family Cemetery in Beulaville.
Arrangements are in the care of Cotten Funeral Home & Crematory.
