

NEW BERN | Theodore Roosevelt Campbell, 81 years of age, passed away on 26 Dec 2014, after a long and debilitating battle with Alzheimer’s. Ted was married to the late Nancy Everhart Campbell for 50 years and she was the love of his life.
Ted is survived by his daughter; Vera Kay Campbell of New Bern, NC and his son; Theodore Ray Campbell and wife, Sue Hart Campbell also of New Bern. Ted had one granddaughter; Holly Hart Campbell of New Bern who was the apple of his eye and whom he loved dearly.
Ted served honorably in the United States Navy from 1952-1955 during the Korean War. His awards include Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Republic of Korea War Service Medal, and Navy Good Conduct Medal.
Ted retired from Weyerhaeuser on Streets Ferry Road where he worked in the Maintenance Division. Ted could fix anything and everything, as he was very mechanically inclined. He was always known as “Pappy” at Weyerhaeuser and relished in all the friendships he formed while employed there. Ted was an avid golfer and in his early days liked to fish and hunt. Generally, Ted enjoyed being outdoors.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Homeplace Assisted Living, New Bern for their care and compassion to Ted during his final stages of Alzheimer’s. In particular, Ms. Jettie Hicks, Manager, Memory Care Unit and Ms. Ebony Koonce, Nursing Assistant Memory Care. A very special Thank You to Dr. Michael L. Davis, Coastal Internal Medicine & Cardiology and Nurse, Ms. Jeanette Weaver, for all their care, concern and compassion throughout Ted’s life and especially during his final years. In the final days, much appreciation to Ms. Cathy Duncan, RN Community Hospice for all the talks, laughter and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, the family request you set aside some time to spend with your family to show your love and appreciation of each other. Make some memories you will cherish in the years to come. Visitation with the family will be Monday, December 29, 2014 at Cotten Funeral Home from 5:00 to7:00pm. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 2:00pm at Lakeside Chapel, Greenleaf Memorial Park. Burial will follow in the cemetery.
