He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp and he retired from Cherry Point.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Owens, two sons, William Thomas Owens, Jr. and Andrew Joseph Owens, two daughters, Ellie Owens Neil and Evelyn Owens King, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, September 14, 2012 at Cotten Chapel. Burial will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home.
