After a long battle with breast cancer, Barbara Ann Spero (Boldon), 51, was granted her angel wings on November 10, 2018. Her final days were spent at home in Canyon Lake, Texas surrounded by her family and friends.
Barbie was born October 14, 1967 in Tazewell, Tennessee to Peggy Ramsey Boldon and Ronnie Boldon. She graduated from Hancock County Highschool in Sneedville, Tennessee then obtained a Bachelor of Science as a Physician Assistant from the University of Texas Health Science Center of San Antonio. Later, she obtained her Master’s Degree from the University of Nebraska in Family Practice.
Major Barbara Spero served over 21 years in the United States Army as a highly decorated Physician Assistant and Flight Surgeon. Some of her most notable honors include the Bronze Star Medal, the Combat Medical Badge and the US Army Aeromedical Physician Assistant of the Year. During her service she met her loving husband, David Spero, and together they raised four children.
She was a strong and loving person who made the best of any situation. Those who met her understood that her love was sincere and bountiful. Filled with compassion and interest in others, she made friends easily and always made you feel like family. In other words, she “never met a stranger!”
After military retirement, Barbara spent her time as a civilian health care provider. Later, she and her husband opened a custom home business, DNB Custom Homes. She was a significant contributor to their business, a volunteer for multiple organizations, and a caring supporter of her many friends and family. Even after all this – and her battle with cancer – she still considered her greatest accomplishment as being a grandmother to Peyton Ann.
