Cierra Martinez, 24, of New Braunfels, Texas, unexpectedly passed away at home on May 16, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of a love of reading, creativity, and kindness. Born on June 7, 2001, Cierra brought a vibrant, artistic energy into the world from the very beginning.
An artistic young woman in every sense of the word, Cierra expressed her joy through movement, music, and art. As a child, Cierra spent countless hours in the dance studio, moving with a natural grace and passion that captivated her family. Her profound love of music included singing in choir earning her letterman jacket while at New Braunfels High School. Cierra also played the violin and the percussion while in middle school. Cierra’s soul was deeply connected to music; she was an avid listener of all styles, finding inspiration in everything from the timeless swing of Frank Sinatra to the bold pop of Lady Gaga, One Direction, and Shania Twain. Her creativity also translated beautifully onto paper through her sketches. Cierra had a talent for writing fan-fiction, and found magic and joy in stories like Wicked and the Harry Potter series.
Above all her talents, Cierra’s favorite pastimes were immersing herself in her favorite books, listening to her favorite playlists on her headphones, diving into an exciting documentary, repeatedly watching Marvel Comic movies, and spending time with her family. Cierra took immense pride in being an aunt and adored her precious nieces and nephews. Cheering them on the soccer fields was pure enjoyment for her! Cierra was a beauty, inside and out, and they meant the world to her! Recently, Cierra was able to celebrate her eldest niece, Gabriella, and had the time of her life celebrating at her Sweet Sixteen.
Cierra cherished her best friend Olivia whom she met a couple years ago. The girls quickly bonded over their sense of humor, love for reading, and their connection through being diagnosed with Epilepsy, a seizure disorder.
Cierra was preceded in death by maternal Grandparents Manuela & Tomas Acevedo, paternal Grandparents Paulina & Lino Acevedo, maternal Great-Grandparents Epolita & Elias Espinosa, paternal Grandfather David Martinez, maternal Uncles Jose, Miguel, Tomas, Jr., Oscar, and Paul Acevedo.
Cierra will live on in the hearts of all who loved her. Carrying on her legacy of an outpouring hearts are her devoted mother, Marcie Acevedo Martinez, caring father, David I. Martinez; her dear paternal Grandmother Rosa Maria Martinez, her loving older brother, Brandon Acevedo and Sister-in-Law Heather, beloved nieces and nephews, Gabriella, Lilliana, Diego and Nico. Cierra is also survived by her admiring Aunts Yolanda Solis, Martha Rodriguez, Linda and Uncle Silvestre Torres, who will deeply miss her warmth, laughter, quirkiness, and sarcastic humor. In addition, Cierra is survived by numerous loving, adventurous cousins who she enjoyed spending time with, whether it was while playing as kids in the “family-famous” backyard of Camp Street, enjoying carnival rides at the annual Comal County Fair, swimming for countless hours at our local rivers, or spending Christmases with their Grandma Manuela where scrumptious tamales seemed never-ending.
