

David. L. Cook of New Braunfels, TX passed away Wednesday, April 15 2020 at the age of 98. He was born in Tivoli, Texas on September 18, 1921 to Charles Edward Cook and Virgie Ethyl Bissett Cook. David attended the CMTC (Civilian Military Training Camp) at Camp Bullis San Antonio, TX at the age of 16 in 1937. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1938 at 17 years old where he served as an enlisted soldier working as an Aircraft Mechanic until 1946. He then attended OCS (Officer Candidate School) where
in February of 1947 he became a Commissioned Officer and worked as a Flight Engineer for the rest of his time in the Army Air Corps. In 1951, he was offered a chance to go into the new U.S. Air Force where he served as an Officer from 1951-1971. David retired as a Lt. Colonel out of Hancock Field N. Y. with 32 years of service. During his years in the military David served through three wars; WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Over the years of military service, he received numerous Commendations and medals from both the Army and Air Force to include WWII Victory Medal, United Nation Service Ribbon, Korean Service Medal,
American Campaign Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. Also during his time in service he was stationed at numerous bases both state side and overseas to include Sheppard AFB Wichita Falls, TX, Randolph AFB San Antonio, TX., Chanute AFB Rantoul, Ill., Naha Air Base Okinawa, Japan, and Osan Air Base South Korea.
David is preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years Helen Roberta Cloud Cook. He is survived by his 6 children, Donna Zech of New Braunfels, TX, R.L. Cook of Atchison, KS., Gloria Hayes of Roseville, CA., Davia Kochersperger of New Braunfels, TX., Nickie Koustoubekis of Chios, Greece, and David Cook of Corpus Christi, TX; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren.
