David Wendell Springfield

Our beloved David has joined his Nanny, Papaw and brother Donny in Heaven. He passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday morning, May 10, 2013.

On October 2, 1962 David was born in Fort Worth, TX. He was the fifth child of Jerris and Pat Springfield. David grew up in Houston, TX, Lakewood, CO, and Ding Dong, TX. In 1981, David graduated from Ellison High School in Killeen, TX where he was an outstanding football and baseball player for the Eagles. He met his wife Rita Jo in 1986 and in 1987 they were married in Killeen, TX. Sons Justin and Jerris and daughter Sami Jo will miss him dearly.

David worked in the convenience store business for over 20 years and from 1989-2003 he owned and operated JAK’s Drive-Thru Food and Beverage Marts located in New Braunfels, Canyon Lake and Wimberley, TX. For the last 10 years, David was employed with Fuquay Construction in New Braunfels.

David was an avid hunter and fisherman and truly loved coaching little league baseball and football. He was solid in his faith as a parishioner at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Braunfels, since 1989.

He is survived by his wife Rita Jo; son Justin and wife Jenna; son Jerris and wife Kyndra; and daughter Sami Jo; parents Jerris and Pat Springfield; grandmother Mirl Springfield; brother Jimmy and wife Leslie; sister Terri Jungmann and husband Ricky; brother Larry and wife Kim; father-in-law David Cagle; mother-in-law Sherry Cagle; and sister-in-law Pam Dodge and husband Herb. David is also survived by his grandchildren Henry, Jarrett, Mason and Rylee (coming soon); 12 nieces and nephews and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Viewing and rosary will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 386 N. Castell Ave, New Braunfels, TX.

Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 386 N. Castell Ave, New Braunfels, TX followed by graveside service.
