Derek was preceded in death by his first wife, Michelle Lee Koutz; his grandmother, Margaret Schlueter; his grandfathers, Ralph Schlueter and Elmer Gibbins; and his cousin, Travis Andrew Schlueter.
He is survived by his wife, Shanna Koutz. His children, Leeander Atley, Emma Grace, and Lillie Rose Koutz. His mother and stepfather, Tammara and Sydney Hillert; his father and stepmother, Randall and Lois Koutz; and Elmer David and Sandy Gibbins.
His siblings also survive him: David Randall Koutz and wife Crystal, Daniel David Gibbins and wife Kimberly, and Tiffany Lynnis Easley and husband Sonny.
Derek was a proud uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
Derek will be remembered for his deep love for his family, his generous heart, and the strength he carried through his life’s trials. He leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience that will live on in all who had the gift of knowing him.
